Governor Surprised by Silence of US Government on Oscar Lopez
San Juan, Dec 15 (Prensa Latina) Governor of Puerto Rico Alejandro Garcia Padilla questioned today the silence of the United States Government regarding the pardon requested for political prisoner Oscar Lopez Rivera, after gathering more than 100,000 signatures.
'I don't want to think there is something missing and we don't know it, if there is something, say it,' said Garcia regarding the silence of US President Barack Obama in this regard.
He said that Obama's lack of response is contrary to what he has been saying for eight years, that he is a person sensitive to reality.
'It doesn't seem to come from the same person, because he feels the pain of the people,' said Garcia.
Garcia reiterated that former US President William Clinton had already granted pardon to Oscar Lopez and he did not accept it because his comrades were not listed in the pardon, but they are already free because they served their sentences.
