Venezuela to send humanitarian aid to Saint Vincent and Grenadines

Caracas, Apr 9 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan government will send humanitarian aid to support Saint Vincent and the Grenadines´ authorities in the face of increased La Soufriere volcano activity, Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza reported.

On Twitter, Arreaza asserted that the member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) are alert to coordinate necessary support.

‘In the next few hours, Venezuela will send humanitarian supplies and experts to cooperate in preventive evacuation and relocation of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines´ citizens,’ Arreaza tweeted.

Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves announced Thursday to activate the National Council for Emergency Management due to the increased La Soufriere volcano activity.

On Twitter, Gonsalves urged citizens to be more prepared in the event of an evacuation order and remain calm, while preparations continue to mitigate damage.

In turn, the ALBA-TCP Executive Secretary Sacha Llorenti sent a message of solidarity to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines´ authorities and ratified the willingness to support the contingency generated by the seismic-volcanic activity.
