Brazil generates 184,140 formal jobs in March

Brasilia, Apr 28 (Prensa Latina) Brazil created 184,140 net formal jobs in March, according to data from the General Census of Employed and Unemployed released on Wednesday by the Ministry of Economy.

The report specified that such result was possible because of 1,608,007 new hires and 1,423,867 dismissals in the period assessed.

At the onset of the Covid-19 impact on the economy, 276,350 jobs were closed in the same month in 2020.

According to the Minister of Economy Paulo Guedes, job creation covered all sectors of the economy in March and also all regions of the country.

‘Likewise, the most outstanding was the sector most affected by the pandemic, the services sector. Of the 184,000jobs, almost half, 95,000, were created in the services sector,’ he assured.

The minister pointed out that ‘the last sector of the economy that was down has picked up and the Brazilian economy continues to create new jobs.’

At the end of March, Brazil had a balance of 40,200,042 jobs, an increase compared to January 2021 (39,620,736 jobs) and to March 2020, when the balance was 39,342,275.
