The head of Cuban diplomacy denounced on X that the genocidal Israeli Government insists on its land offensive against the city of Rafah, even against the recommendations of its allies.

Rodríguez warned that such an action would have unprecedented costs for the suffering population of Gaza and would provoke the displacement of thousands of Palestinians.

The Cuban foreign minister’s call comes when media sources report that the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have taken control of the Palestinian side of the Rafah border crossing.

According to Al Jazeera television, the IDF’s incursion into the area interrupted the movement of people and the entry of humanitarian aid into the Palestinian enclave through the Rafah and Kerem Shalom crossings, which had been closed by Israel on Monday.

The Israeli War Cabinet decided to continue its invasion of this Palestinian territory’s portion, which has served as a refuge for thousands of civilians displaced by the indiscriminate shelling and ground incursions in the north since October 7, 2023.
