Malaysia and Kyrgyzstan strengthen bilateral ties

Kuala Lumpur, Jun 25 (Prensa Latina) The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Zhaparov, exchanged today in this capital on the possibilities of strengthening bilateral ties in various sectors.

At the meeting, held at Seri Perdana, the official residence of the Malaysian head of government, the interlocutors discussed crucial issues with the aim of invigorating cooperation in trade, investment, renewable energy, halal industry, agricultural products and other areas of mutual interest.

During his two-day visit, Zhaparov will also meet with other senior Malaysian government officials.

The first results of his stay in Kuala Lumpur were the signing of several memorandums of understanding in areas such as tourism, digital transformation, cybersecurity, higher education, health, trade promotion and scientific cooperation.

In addition, notes were exchanged on youth cooperation and diplomatic training, as well as a letter of intent on legal collaboration.

In 2024, Kyrgyzstan was Malaysia’s fourth largest partner in Central Asia with a trade exchange of 40 million Malaysian ringgits ($8.74 million).
