The digital media Cubadebate adds that almost three years after the unfortunate fire at the Matanzas Supertanker Base, progress has been made in the recovery of the fuel storage capacity.
Tangible progress can be seen in the recovery of the 200,000 cubic meters of fuel storage capacity lost in August 2022.
The four tanks totally destroyed by the flames are gradually being replaced thanks to the collaboration between Cuba and China, forces that are giving shape to tanks 88, 49-1, 86 and 87, says Cubadebate who relies on local broadcasts by Yumurí TV.
The head of the Integrated Project Management, industrial engineer Richard Daniel Martínez, said that in general the work is progressing.
The four containers have their enclosures and are in the phase of mechanical completion after which they will move on to the puncture phase, the expert said.
Tank 88, manufactured by Cuban forces, is 60 percent complete, while the remaining three, with great progress, are being carried out by Chinese workers, with the particularity that they will not be side by side like the damaged ones, but will be on the lower esplanade, and two others situated on the upper esplanade.
