Bartoszewski justified the absence of Polish representatives at the August 18 meeting at the White House by Warsaw’s moderate influence on the global stage.
Poland is a medium-sized country, lacking the international reach of Germany or the United Kingdom, he explained.
Following his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on August 15, Trump spoke by phone with Zelensky and then with the leaders of the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Poland, Finland, and France, as well as the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and the President of the European Commission.
Zelensky later confirmed that he will discuss details of ending the conflict during his meeting with Trump in Washington.
He will be accompanied by the presidents of France, Emmanuel Macron, and the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, along with the British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer; the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni; and the German Chancellor, Friedrich Merz.
