According to a press release from the Ministry of Commerce and Industries (MICI), this was the result of two days of business rounds held in Santo Domingo, headed by the head of the ministry, Julio Molto.
More than 40 Panamanian exporting companies and dozens of buyers from the Caribbean nation participated in the event, which has been considered as the largest trade promotion effort towards the Dominican Republic in at least a decade.
During this exchange they also identified concrete opportunities in key sectors such as food and beverages, construction, manufacturing, logistics, packaging, franchises, marine lubricants and pet food.
Currently, some 15 Panamanian companies regularly export to the Dominican Republic, but this mission allowed them to strengthen existing relationships and open new opportunities for long-term sustainable business.
As part of the program, the visitors visited supermarkets, hardware stores and points of sale to gather market information and learn about local consumer preferences.
