Cuba launches book on legacy of 20 women in Cuban culture

Havana, Aug 27 (Prensa Latina) The Fayad Jamis Bookstore in Havana will host the launch of Angela Oramas's book "La Consagracion de Veinte Mujeres" (The Dedication of Twenty Women), on Wednesday.

Published by Ediciones En Vivo, the publishing house of Cuban Radio and Television, the book features interviews, profiles, and testimonies from twenty Cuban women linked to culture.

The author said, “It is surprising how complex their growth has been, and also surprising how much their brilliant legacy on culture has been, ever since they decided on the direction of their professions as filmmakers, journalists, screenwriters, fashion designers, writers, teachers, editors, musicologists, researchers, among others.”

This will be an opportunity for Angela Oramas and Norma Galvez, director of Ediciones En Vivo, to analyze this literary work with journalist and critic Fernando Rodriguez.

Born in Havana in 1942, the author of the book is a journalist who has worked in the printing press, radio, and digital media, a statement from the Cuban Book Institute (ICL) noted.

Its catalog includes 12 prestigious titles, including “Conozca a Cuba: Cementerios de La Habana” (Get to Know Cuba: Cemeteries of Havana), “Delicias de la Cocina Criolla” (Delights of Cuban Creole Cuisine), and “Los gallegos de La Habana” (Galician-born citizens in Havana), published by Cuban and foreign publishers.
