President of Cuba mourns death of electrical worker

Havana, Sep 8 (Prensa Latina) The president of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, today lamented the death of the young technician of the thermoelectric power plant Antonio Maceo Grajales (Rente), Carlos Rafael Lopez, who suffered an accident on August 31.

Through the social network X, the president expressed his deepest condolences to Lopez’s family and friends.

“I join in the deep sorrow of authorities and people of Santiago de Cuba for the death of Carlos Rafael Lopez Ibarra, young turbine operator at the thermoelectric plant “Rente”, after suffering an accident during the start-up of unit 5. Condolences to family, colleagues and friends,” wrote the head of state on the platform.

According to reports from the Santiago de Cuba Electric Company, during his hospitalization, despite the severity of his burns, Lopez remained collaborative with the treatment, demonstrating strength and firmness until the last moment.

The 33-year-old was recognized on social media for his dedication, responsibility and commitment to his work.
