Malaysia launches national campaign for a safe Internet environment

Kuala Lumpur, Sep 17 (Prensa Latina) The Malaysian government reaffirmed its commitment to creating a safer, more inclusive and trustworthy digital environment in order to protect national interests, economic stability and the welfare of the population.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil launched the Safer Internet Campaign, designed to strengthen public awareness of risks such as online scams, gambling, cyberbullying and misuse of social networks by children under 13.

He also highlighted the advances in connectivity thanks to Madani National Broadcasting Center, with 42 facilities in the state of Penang aimed at expanding Internet access, digital literacy and the inclusion of rural communities.

The event, held at Picca Arena Convention Center in Butterworth, was attended by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Penang Governor Ramli Ngah Talib, as well as representatives from the governments of Sarawak and Sabah.
