Syrians express solidarity with Cuba and condemn US blockade

Damascus, 17 Sep (Prensa Latina) The Group of Syrians Graduated at Cuban Universities expressed its firm solidarity with the Cuban community and energetically condemned the economic blockade imposed by the United States against the Caribbean nation for more than six decades.

In a declaration issued in this capital, the group called this politics “unjust, inhumane and violatory of international law”, while denouncing its negative impacts on the development, sovereignty and living conditions of the Cuban pueblo.

As Syrian citizens who have experienced the privilege of graduating from Cuban universities, we first know the dignity and solidarity of the Cuban people, points out the document.

The supporters highlighted that the island on the ground provided quality education and integral training, but also inculcated the values of social justice, internationalism and respect between the communities.

The group said that the current economic and humanitarian situation facing Cuba requires an urgent call to the international community to demand an immediate and unconditional cessation of this unilateral policy.

They also thanked Cuba for maintaining its diplomatic presence in Syria permanently and praising the recent stances of La Habana condemning Israeli aggression, supporting the unity and territorial integrity of Syria and defending the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of the States.

From Syria, a country that has also suffered the impact of unilateral coercive sanctions, we go to Cuba: we are not alone”, concludes the declaration, which ends with a clear slogan: “Long live the brotherhood between Syria and Cuba!”
