According to a presidential statement, the working visit’s main objective is to evaluate and promote the implementation of the Revitalized Agreement for the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS), signed in 2018.
Mashatile is expected to hold high-level consultations with President Salva Kiir Mayardit, other signatories of the pact, and key stakeholders in the process.
According to the South African Presidency, these efforts seek to consolidate progress toward a peaceful and democratic conclusion to the transition period, whose critical milestones include the drafting of a new Constitution, security arrangements, and elections scheduled for December 2026.
The talks are framed within the historic bonds of solidarity between the two countries, forged during the struggles for national liberation, the text recalls.
