Israeli navy raids second humanitarian flotilla heading to Gaza

Ramallah, Oct 8 (Prensa Latina) The Israeli Navy raided on Wednesday a second international flotilla heading to the Gaza Strip to break the siege and deliver aid to the population of that Palestinian territory.

The International Committee to Break the Siege of Gaza (ICBSG) announced on its X profile that the Thousand Madleens Freedom Flotilla was intercepted by the Israeli Navy about 120 nautical miles (220 kilometers) from the coastal enclave.

The ICBSG stated that the Army has no legal jurisdiction in international waters; we pose no threat; we are only carrying vital aid worth more than 110,000 dollars in medicine, respiratory equipment, and nutritional supplements destined for Gaza hospitals.

The Committee published footage of the early morning operation against the Conscience vessel, the largest in the flotilla, which it described as “another act of piracy.”

Israel’s Channel 12 reported that about 150 activists, including journalists and doctors, were detained and then transferred to the Ashdod port.

Israel attacked on October 1 the Semud Global Flotilla, with more than 40 vessels, and arrested the activists on board, including environmentalist Greta Thunberg, MEP Rima Hassan, former Barcelona mayor Ada Colau, and Nelson Mandela’s grandson Mandla Mandela.

After their arrest, the participants denounced mistreatment, torture, and harassment by the Israeli authorities.
