Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian reiterated his support for Malaysia in the rotating presidency of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations), the leading mediator for resolving the latest escalation between the two neighboring nations.
The spokesperson also noted that since the outbreak of the border conflict, Beijing has actively promoted dialogue and reconciliation through its own means.
Lin added that China will continue to play a constructive role in strengthening mutual trust, consolidating the ceasefire, and seeking a peaceful solution to the dispute.
Cambodia and Thailand have maintained intermittent border tensions for more than a decade, while ASEAN is promoting regional efforts to preserve stability and cooperation in Southeast Asia.
Kuala Lumpur will host the ASEAN Summit on October 26, and Malaysia also aims to introduce the signing of a peace agreement between the two countries with the participation of US President Donald Trump.
