The day, in which more than 2.75 million people voted, was considered a success for the coalition because it was an internal vote and the presidential elections are still seven months away.
Cepeda, who surpassed former Health Minister Carolina Corcho by nearly 37 percent, is now expected to face other candidates from center-left forces in March 2026, in a process of purging representatives of what has become known as the Broad Front.
The legislator-turned-candidate himself reported irregularities during the election, and informed local media that 4,000 rural polling stations were moved to municipal seats, locations where the Pact has followers.
He stated that reports of mishaps due to “nonexistent polling stations” were also received in cities such as Medellin, Cartagena, Barranquilla, and Sincelejo.
President Gustavo Petro said the results of the citizen exercise show that the Historic Pact coalition has more voters than most political parties on present dat election dates.
