A report published by the National Institute of Statistics (Istat) also points out that the number of men, young people aged 15 to 34, and those over 50 seeking employment in this European country increased by 2,0%, with 31,000 more than those registered in August of this year.
However, the number of unemployed among people aged 35 to 49 and women decreased, while the overall unemployment rate rose to 6,1%, with a month-on-month increase of 0,1 percentage points.
Compared to September 2024, the number of job seekers increased by 1,0%, or 16,000 more, although the number of inactive individuals aged 15 to 64 decreased by 1,3 percentage points, or 167,000 fewer people, the source adds.
