The PT leader in the Chamber of Deputies, Lindbergh Farias, wrote on the social network X that the order from Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes was issued “because, even under house arrest, Bolsonaro continued to act politically to generate tension and pressure institutions.”
He asserted that the vigil called by his son Flavio Bolsonaro, which transformed the criminal proceedings into a political act, directly influenced the magistrate’s decision.
The mobilization sought to create a climate of intimidation toward the Supreme Federal Court (STF) and the Federal Police, “reinforcing the risk of institutional destabilization and interference in the process,” Farias asserted.
He warned that the gathering aimed at preventing Bolsonaro’s imprisonment, even using firearms, and also indicated a possible flight plan.
The preventive detention complies with an order issued by the STF and demonstrates that, faced with a concrete risk to public order and political manipulation of the process, the law applies to everyone, including the former president, the congressman emphasized.
For Farias, the final sentence against the former president is approaching, as it “paves the way for the start of the sentence.” He called Bolsonaro’s arrest a great day.
The STF points out that Bolsonaro was preventively arrested because he attempted to break the electronic ankle monitor that was tracking his movements in order to flee during a demonstration organized in front of his house by one of his sons.
