In a statement, the PLO’s Department of Refugee Affairs accused the country of attempting to forcibly displace the Palestinian population from their ancestral lands.
The aim is to eliminate the refugee problem and their right of return, which is part of a broader plan to consolidate control and annex the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, it warned.
In this regard, it highlighted that, since the start of its military campaign against northern West Bank earlier this year, the army has partially or completely destroyed hundreds of homes in the camp, forcing thousands of families to flee.
The organization stated that these actions constitute a war crime and a violation of international humanitarian law and the United Nations Charter.
The Department affirmed that the ongoing crimes of the occupying State undermine security and stability in the region, and it also criticized the global silence in the face of such attacks.
In this regard, it considered that the lack of a policy of deterrence and punishment encourages Benjamin Netanyahu’s government “to continue its crimes and its violations of international norms and laws.”
