Amid the bilateral diplomatic crisis, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun criticized Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s statements, which ignore domestic and external criticism and disregard basic international regulations.
Guo underscored that Tokyo is attempting to revive militarism by challenging the international order established after World War II, which warrants vigilance from Asian countries and the global community.
The spokesperson described Taiwan’s instrumentalization for domestic political gain as “dangerous and malicious” and urged Japan to retract and refrain from continuing to “play with fire.”
Guo rejected Japanese accusations regarding alleged “radar irradiation” by a Chinese fighter jet against a Self-Defense Forces aircraft on December 6.
The Chinese Defense Ministry underscored that these statements about Taiwan constituted serious interference in the country’ domestic affairs.
