Electricity was restored in both provinces, which had been without power since Tuesday afternoon due to the dismantling of five transmission towers belonging to the National Electricity Distribution Company (ENDE) on the Sumbe/Benguela line.
The incident, described as sabotage, affected the local population, public services, and businesses, but the efforts of ENDE and National Electricity Transmission Network (RNT) technicians allowed them to restore power in a relatively short time, considering the extent of the damage.
The investigation is ongoing, and the act has generated strong public condemnation.
According to ENDE, these actions resulted in a loss exceeding 400 million kwanzas (more than $438,000), while so far this year the company has suffered losses exceeding $50 million for the same reason.
