A police report reads that during the operation, conducted jointly with the Italian Customs Agency, the presence of the drugs, valued at approximately 1.5 billion euros, was detected in a container arriving from the Colombian port of Cartagena.
The report states that some 2,109 blocks, hidden in 87 jute sacks wrapped in nylon netting, were seized. These blocks contained, without packaging, an estimated 2,380 kilograms of ultrapure cocaine.
The release underscores, “The seizure is part of a constant and targeted effort to combat international drug trafficking.”
Analysts said investigations continue to determine details of this illegal activity, with the likely involvement of the powerful Ndrangheta mafia organization.
