Aboul Gheit’s remarks were made during a meeting in Havana with Cuban Ambassador to Cairo, Alexander Pellicer, the Hispano-Arab League website stressed.

Both officials discussed the situation in the Latin American nation and the Middle East in light of the dangerous scenarios looming on the horizon, the source noted.

Pellicer briefed the AL chief on the situation on the island due to the tightening of the economic, financial, and commercial blockade imposed by Washington for more than 60 years.

The diplomat also denounced the illegal attempt by the northern power to prevent Cuba from receiving fuel supplies, which are essential for generating electricity and keeping the national economy running.

Given this situation, Pellicer reaffirmed the Cuban government and people’s decision to defend their independence and sovereignty until the end.
