White House Special Envoy Steve Witkoff also stated that the meeting was “productive and constructive.”
Witkoff affirmed, “We are encouraged by this meeting, as Russia is working to ensure peace in Ukraine, and we appreciate US President Donald Trump’s crucial leadership in the pursuit of lasting peace.”
The US delegation also included Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent; Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner; and White House senior advisor Josh Gruenbaum.
The first talks of the trilateral working group on security issues took place on January 23-24 in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with the participation of representatives from Russia, the United States, and Ukraine.
