Organized by the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), participants will take to the streets to demand the release and prompt return to the country of the presidential couple, after 32 days of abduction in violation of international law.
In this context, the South American nation has undergone a series of transformations, following the Supreme Court’s Constitutional Chamber ruling on the said date, which stipulated that Executive Vice President Delcy Rodriguez assume and exercise all the powers, duties, and responsibilities of the presidency.
Rodriguez said, “I come with sorrow, but I must also say that I do so with honor because I come to swear in the name of all Venezuelans, by our Liberator Simon Bolivar.”
In addition to swearing in by Commander Hugo Chavez, who “gave life to millions of Venezuelans as citizens,” she swore by the children, and without a minute’s break, to guarantee the peace, spiritual, and social tranquility of the Republic and its people.
Rodriguez also called on everyone to swear in as one nation to move Venezuela forward “in these terrible hours of threat against the stability and peace of the nation.”
