Russia demands the immediate release of Venezuela’s president

Moscow, Feb 3 (Prensa Latina) Solidarity friends demanded today here the immediate release of Venezuela’s president, Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, when it is one month since their kidnapping by the United States.

Representatives of political parties, solidarity groups and government entities gathered in front of the headquarters of the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Moscow to condemn Washington’s aggression against civilian and military targets in Caracas, and three other states of the South American nation.

When speaking to those present at the rally, the Venezuelan ambassador to the Eurasian country, Jesus Salazar, said that the United States used lies to attack his country and kidnap Maduro, in clear violation of the Charter of the United Nations and international law.

“Today, dear friends, we no longer see the bombing of drug traffickers’ boats in the Caribbean, we do not hear about the Cartel de los Soles, we do not hear about drug cartels.

It has been exposed the imperial hypocrisy in accusing Venezuela of crimes that were never committed in our country and especially against a decent person”, emphasized the Caribbean diplomat.

Salazar used the stage to pay tribute to the Venezuelan soldiers and people, as well as to the Cuban fighters who gave their lives to protect the integrity and sovereignty of the Bolivarian territory.

The head of the Venezuelan diplomatic mission also warned that “today the US government is concentrating its military power to threaten Cuba, and the Caribbean countries”.

In this context, he urged representatives of international diplomacy to implement meaningful measures to demand compliance with the UN Charter and respect for the integrity and sovereignty of countries besieged by the White House.

At the rally, the militants of the Russian Communist Party described as “very serious military aggression” what happened on January 3 on the soil of the Liberator Simon Bolivar, while they warned that the aim of the attacks was none other than to seize Venezuela’s strategic resources, in particular its oil and minerals, trying to break the nation’s political independence by force.

They also condemned the oil blockade that was recently imposed on Cuba from the White House as a mechanism to suffocate and subjugate the Cuban people and government.

In this regard, they stressed that Russia and its citizens will continue to support the free peoples of the world, especially those of Cuba and Venezuela.
