Polls by major media outlets state that the outlook is unfavorable for the CRA formed by the Constitutional Democratic Party (CDP) and the Buddhist-led Komeito Party, which decided to form a coalition just some weeks ago when Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi dissolved the House of Representatives.
Takaichi aimed to call early general elections leaving her opponents with very little time to campaign.
Polls published by Japanese media outlets such as Kyodo and Asahi point out that the prime minister leads in voting intentions and her Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) could easily surpass 233 seats, enough to govern alone and well above the 199 she previously held.
Takaichi is seeking another term to boost economic and political reforms, and if the poll results hold, she would have advantages in carrying out her different projects.
