Friend of Cuba affirms US destroys ideas with a big stick’s violence

Managua, Feb 16 (Prensa Latina) Nicaraguan friend of Cuba, Doctor Julio Briseño Davila, affirmed that the United States blockade against the island is currently the most brutal expression of an imperial policy that seeks to "destroy ideas with the violence of the Big Stick."

In statements to Prensa Latina, Briseño Davila described this strategy as a direct legacy of the so-called “Big Stick” policy, associated with the Monroe Doctrine, as well as “Manifest Destiny,” which, he explained, have shaped Washington’s foreign policy toward Latin America and the Caribbean.

The prominent Nicaraguan doctor stated, “It is the same doctrinal matrix that today exacerbates the genocidal blockade against Cuba.

It is the continuation of a reactionary imperial policy, of a cannibalistic capitalism that does not tolerate examples of sovereignty and dignity.”

He considered that Cuba’s greatest “threat” lies in its historical example of sovereignty, self-determination, and social development.

He highlighted the internationalist work of the Cuban medical brigades, particularly the Henry Reeve International Contingent of Physicians Specialized in Disaster Situations and Serious Epidemics, which, he noted, has assisted in more than 60 countries.

Referring to recent US policy, Briseño Davila mentioned President Donald Trump, who declared Cuba an “unusual and extraordinary threat” and tightened the economic, commercial, and financial siege with further sanctions.
