Presenting the results of the comprehensive drug control strategy implemented in 2025, Justice Minister Rosabel Gamon insisted that although the island faces objective risks due to its geographical location, “it is not a producer, storage facility, or transit territory for third parties.”
During a press conference, Gamon emphasized that preventing the use of national territory and its jurisdictional waters for drug trafficking is a strategic objective of the State, according to a report in Granma, the official newspaper of the Communist Party of Cuba.
He also pointed out that with the “approval of the 2019 Constitution, criminal and administrative regulations have been updated, reinforcing the strictness of measures against drug-related crimes, in line with the State’s zero-tolerance policy.”
Official sources confirm that last year in Cuba there were 53 drug landings, resulting in the seizure of marijuana, cocaine, and hashish, while “domestically, approximately 76 kilograms of drugs destined for the national illicit market were seized, with the highest concentration being the synthetic drug ‘the chemical’.”
