An IPS analyst denounces US government’s aggression against Cuba

Washington, Mar 1 (Prensa Latina) Netfa Freeman, an analyst at the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS), denounced the increased aggression of the United States Government against Cuba and, in this context, the dangerous provocations by anti-Cuban groups now based in this country.

Speaking to Prensa Latina about the attempted infiltration in Cuban waters in the morning of February 25 by extremist elements traveling on a Florida-registered vessel, Freeman said the current climate of hostility from the administration of President Donald Trump toward Cuba is encouraging some.

Freeman, who is also a member of the Coordinating Committee of the Black Alliance for Peace (BAP), told Prensa Latina that the attempted infiltration in Cuban territorial waters by extremist elements traveling on a Florida-registered vessel occurred within the context of “increased aggression against Cuba by the United States and the strengthening of the blockade.”

They are probably trying to instigate more direct actions by the US government against Cuba, Freeman added. “This indicates how dangerous the current moment is,” he emphasized.

It is more important than ever that the peoples of the Global South remain united, the representative of Pan-African Community Action (PACA) said.

The IPS analyst noted that the objective pursued by successive US administrations for over 60 years has been regime change in Cuba.

He emphasized that Cuba stands as a moral counterpoint in the world. It is a country that has exercised and defended its sovereignty since the dawn of its Revolution.

Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Fernandez de Cossio, in a recent statement, denounced an attempted infiltration for terrorist purposes by 10 people aboard a vessel registered in the Florida state.
