The Foreign Ministry Spokesperson’s Office noted that 53 African countries, excluding Eswatini, maintain diplomatic relations with China.
It stated that those nations, along with the African Union (AU), adopted the Beijing Declaration of the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
It underscored that these countries repeatedly reiterated their adherence to the one-China principle.
The statement noted that those positions comply with international law and the basic regulations of international relations, while expressing China’s appreciation for the stance taken by the nations involved.
The Foreign Ministry underscored that there is no longer a “President of the Republic of China” and described any actions taken under that title as deceptive. It reiterated that the Government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legitimate representative of the entire country.
