Cuban collaborators in Timor-Leste reaffirm support of Revolution

Dili, April 24 (Prensa Latina) Cuban collaborators and diplomats in Timor-Leste reaffirmed their support for the Revolution in this capital, in the face of the intensification of the United States' hostile policy against the island.

At the Cuban embassy, attendees signed the document “My Signature for the Homeland,” denouncing the consequences of the blockade and the multidimensional economic war, aggravated by Washington’s energy embargo.

The event took place in the context of the celebration of the Centennial of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro and in anticipation of the upcoming May Day.

This initiative of Cuban civil society, intended to express citizens’ commitment to the defense of national sovereignty, was endorsed by the highest authorities of the island on April 19 at the main event commemorating the 65th anniversary of the proclamation of the socialist character of the Revolution.

Since that date, in student centers, workplaces, and communities, the population has expressed its rejection, through their signatures, of the maximum pressure policy with which the United States government intends to subvert the process of transformation that the island has defended since 1959.

Cuba and Timor-Leste have maintained collaborative relations since 2004; the island has contributed to the training of specialists in that sector.

Today, the head of the Cuban mission in Dili, Alina Aldama, briefed the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Jesuina Maria Ferreira, on the consequences of the escalation of the economic blockade imposed by the U.S. government.
