Sudanese paramilitaries bomb hospitals in South Kordofan

Khartoum, May 3 (Prensa Latina) A new wave of paramilitary bombings has seriously damaged hospitals and medical centers in the strategic city of Dilling, in Sudan's South Kordofan state.

The Sudan Doctors Network (SDN) announced in a statement published on its social media that the vast majority of health centers have been damaged or rendered unusable by several bombings carried out in recent days by the so-called Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

The report also highlights that systematic attacks have left the health sector in near collapse and that there is also a severe shortage of medical supplies in the city, currently a key battleground in the conflict between the army and the RSF.

Furthermore, the Sudanese Doctors Union Committee reported that as of March 24, 222 healthcare professionals had been killed, while 378 had been wounded and numerous health centers had been destroyed during the fighting.

Since mid-April 2023, Sudan has been embroiled in an internal war, fueled by power struggles between the army chief, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the leader of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Mohamed Hamdan Daglo.

The fighting has destroyed countless livelihoods, plunging the country into a complex spiral of hunger and death.
