“The true goal of European leaders is not negotiations with Russia, but saving the regime of President Volodymyr Zelensky and maintaining it as a platform to continue the fight against us,” Lavrov explained in his article “Ukraine, Europe and Global Security,” published in the magazine Mezhdunarodnaya Zhizn (International Life) magazine.
The foreign minister underscored that, in this way, Brussels wants to achieve a ceasefire as soon as possible to prevent the collapse of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the front lines.
The diplomat added, “To ‘freeze’ the conflict without eliminating its root causes. And to immediately deploy military contingents from the British-French coalition of the willing into Ukraine.”
Lavrov remembered the recent statements made by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, who affirms that dialogue with Russia is necessary to convey Europe’s conditions.
