The invitation, from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, was extended a few days ago, and it is still unknown who will represent New Delhi at the funeral ceremonies and burial, scheduled for early July, of Ayatollah, who was killed in a US-Israeli airstrike in February, the Iranian Embassy in India posted on social media.
The diplomatic mission informed that Modi met with Ghadir Nezamipour, Deputy Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), following the conclusion of the 16th BRICS National Security Advisors (NSAs) Meeting.
Nezamipour spoke earlier with National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval about the situation in the Middle East and other issues.
The Indian prime minister emphasized in a meeting with BRICS advisors and senior security officials the growing importance of the intergovernmental bloc in addressing current security challenges in a constantly evolving global landscape.
