The Iranian Foreign Ministry explained that repeated US attacks on Iran, the US Treasury Department’s reversal of the decision to lift sanctions on Iranian oil sales, the failure to honor commitments regarding the Strait of Hormuz, and continued Israeli aggression against Lebanon have rendered essential aspects of the document void. The Ministry emphasized that Washington will bear responsibility for the consequences of the escalating tensions.
It further affirmed that Iran will not waver in defending its territorial integrity and independence and will continue to strike targets from which US acts of aggression are launched.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry also reminded Gulf states of their international obligations, which prohibit them from allowing the United States to use their territories to launch attacks against Iran.
The US Central Command announced a series of attacks against Iran the previous day in response to actions targeting three merchant vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
Negotiations mediated by Qatar and Pakistan are ongoing with the aim of reaching a definitive agreement.
