A statement by the Marti Association of Cubans Residing in Panama (Amcrp) notes that the address by the Caribbean nation’s top diplomat once again exposed to the international community the “criminal, inhumane, and genocidal” nature of this hostile policy—enforced for over six decades with the aim of subjugating the people through deprivation and hardship.
The group emphasized that, as part of the Cuban diaspora, its members are direct witnesses to the difficulties faced by their relatives in Cuba and maintained that the country’s current situation is the result of a prolonged economic war.
Furthermore, the Amcrp rejected the actions of the US delegation during the General Assembly session and criticized statements made by that country’s ambassador, Mike Waltz, deeming that he resorted to “slander and falsehoods” against the Cuban delegation.
According to the statement, the attacks directed at Havana’s delegation reveal Washington’s lack of arguments in the face of the broad international support that the resolution calling for the lifting of the blockade receives year after year.
The group added that every attempt to discredit Cuban diplomats strengthens recognition of their work and stands in contrast to the international community’s overwhelming support for ending that policy.
In the text, the Amcrp also reaffirmed its commitment to continue denouncing the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Cuba and to demand the immediate and unconditional lifting of the blockade.
The statement concludes with a call to maintain solidarity with the Cuban people and to persevere in actions aimed at ending the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States.
