Dom Rep: Polytechnic center donated by Cuba in Bani welcomes yo

Santo Domingo, Aug 24 (Prensa Latina) The Maximo Gomez Polytechnic Institute, donated by Cuba to this nation, will welcome new students on Monday and those continuing their studies, marking the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

Located in Bani, Peravia province, in southern Dominican Republic, the educational center was built at the initiative of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, following his visit to that city in 1998, the birthplace of General Maximo Gomez.

The institution offers technical training in Information Technology, Food Industry, Marketing, and Accounting, areas that prepare young people to enter the workforce or pursue higher education.

With 26 years of experience, the Polytechnic Institute has graduated nearly 3,000 students.

The school also symbolizes the historic bonds of friendship and solidarity between Cuba and the Dominican Republic, bearing the name of the Dominican hero who attained the highest military rank in the country’s wars of independence.
