Marcelo Buzetto, the organization’s Director of International Relations, denounced Washington’s policy against the Caribbean island—a policy that has persisted for more than six decades.
The activist’s statement comes ahead of an upcoming debate at the United Nations—scheduled for October 27 and 28—regarding a Cuban resolution that calls for the lifting of the U.S.-imposed blockade.
Buzetto expressed his confidence that Cuba will have the support of peoples and nations around the world, who, he emphasized, will stand on the side of justice and international relations rooted in friendship and cooperation.
“Once again, the United States will be defeated,” the activist declared, while calling for mobilizing in defense of the Caribbean nation.
In a statement released by the Jose Marti Cultural Association of Sao Paulo, the organization expressed its opposition to the U.S. government’s pressure on other countries intended to influence the UN vote.
The organization stressed that Cuba has the right to defend its Revolution and maintain the political system chosen by its people, free from external threats or conditions.
