In a statement released on the anniversary of the declaration, issued on November 2, 1917, the PLO’s Department of Refugee Affairs noted that its consequences manifest in the confiscation of land, the demolition of homes, the expansion of settlements, annexation plans, and policies of “Judaization” and displacement.

It stated that these practices seek to uproot the Palestinian people from their land and have culminated in a war of extermination and destruction in the Gaza Strip, which violates international law and international humanitarian law.

It also reaffirmed the Palestinians’ commitment to their land and national and historical rights, while rejecting any schemes involving displacement, uprooting, resettlement, or “Judaization.”

“Attempts to impose events by force and erase the Palestinian presence will not strip our people of their identity or their right to their land,” the department emphasized, reiterating its commitment to the rights to freedom, self-determination, independence, and return.
