NATO nuclear weapons in Poland will be targets for Russia

Moscow, Apr 25 (Prensa Latina) The nuclear weapons of the member countries of NATO will be a military objective for Russia if they are deployed on the territory of Poland, declared Vice Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.

“Without doubt, the expansion of the practice of joint NATO nuclear missions, regardless of which country or countries may join those already participating in this practice, is purely destabilizing in nature,” added Ryabkov, who noted that the proximity of joint nuclear missions of NATO countries to Russian borders exacerbates threats against the Federation.

“A plan of this type in Poland and beyond will not increase its security, but the weapons in question will undoubtedly become a target. And in our military planning, they will be in the foreground,” the diplomat said.

The deputy minister called the debate on the deployment of NATO nuclear weapons in Poland “a developing story,” and stressed that Moscow is watching how “various parts of the Polish executive branch, and not only them, are working on this issue in their internal speech”.

Previously, Polish President Andrzej Duda stated that the authorities had repeatedly discussed with the United States the possibility of deploying nuclear weapons in the country within the framework of NATO’s nuclear sharing program.
