Ramallah, May 2 (Prensa Latina) The Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, refused to meet twice in recent days with the US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, in protest of Washington's support for Israeli aggression, media outlets revealed.

According to the Israeli news portal Ynet, which cited a Palestinian official, Abbas refused to receive Blinken in Ramallah during the latter’s tour of the region because “he is very angry with him.”

Every time Blinken visits Ramallah he makes promises that he never keeps, the source said. For this reason, the president asked not to coordinate any meetings in protest of the failure to fulfill the White House’s promises.

According to the news outlet, the president also refused to meet with Blinken on the sidelines of the meetings of the International Economic Forum, held days ago in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

For its part, Al-Quds newspaper noted that Abbas is furious over the United States’ veto of a draft resolution in the UN Security Council that gave the green light to Palestine’s accession as a full member of the UN.

After the veto by the United States, the president announced that his Government will reconsider its relations with the US.

“The refusal to admit Palestine as a full member of the United Nations constitutes a flagrant aggression against the rights of our people, their history, their land and a challenge to the will of the world”, Abbas stated at the end of last month in an interview with the Wafa news agency, denouncing that “while the international community works to support our cause, the White House supports the Israeli occupation and refuses to force Israel to stop the war of genocide against Gaza and even supplies it with weapons and money.”

Abbas stated that the United States violated all international laws and broke its promises regarding a two-state solution and achieving peace in the region. Not only did Joe Biden’s administration reneged on its promises, but it also allowed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to weaken the Palestinian National Authority, he said.
