Order and peace during first steps of polls in Ethiopia
Addis Ababa, June 21 (Prensa Latina) In a peaceful and organized context in regards to restrictions adopted to fight Covid-19, general polls take place today in Ethiopia, to which more than 36 million people are called upon.
Since six in the morning polls stations opened and until noon no serious problems have been reported in none of the regional states registered for polls, according to reports from the National Electoral Board (NEBE).
Hundreds of thousands of voters from the main settlements responded to the government´s call, including special cities like Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa, NEBE assured, they also follow the process inspect rural areas.
Representatives of 46 political parties fight for Parliament seats and regional councils in polls carried out in jurisdictions where there was no problem with voter registration or security.
Tigray´s Popular Liberation Front is not present, declared by Parliament a terrorist organization, its leaders held last September regional elections and challenged the Parliament´s mandate.
