President mourns death of Cuban urban musician
Havana, Jul 19 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Sunday mourned the death of Cuban urban musician Daniel Alejandro Muñoz, who was a member of the duo Yomil (Roberto Hidalgo) y el Danny.
Sad news: 'El Dany', a member of the Cuban duo 'Yomil y el Dany'. died. We mourn his death. Our condolences to relatives, friends and followers, the president wrote on his Twitter account.
The statement by Cuban head of State joined several shows of condolences expressed by institutions and renowned figures of the country's culture and music, as well as followers and fans of the popular artist.
Muñoz, also known by El Dany in Cuba's musical world, died on Saturday as a consequence of an acute cardiovascular ailment, according to the Cuban Music Institute.
During his career, he earned notoriety after winning several awards and nominations in Cuban and international contests such as Lucas, Cubadisco and Billboard, among others.
El Dany, who was 31 when he died, was recently part of the cast of the song and video clip Musica Vital (Vital Music), along with Omara Portuondo and the duo Buena Fe, whose members also regretted his death.
Since 2015, the urban musical duo Yomil y el Dany had stood up due to their singular sonority, in which they mixed US reggaeton and rap, thus creating a musical genre known as 'trapton', of which they were the initiators.
