Vietnam reports its first Covid-19 death
Hanoi, Jul 31 (Prensa Latina) Vietnam reported on Friday its first Covid-19 death, a 70-year-old man who suffered from several underlying diseases, the commission in charge of containing the pandemic officially informed.
Originally from central Hoi An city, the man was admitted on July 9 at Da Nang Hospital. There, he was diagnosed with end-stage kidney disease and was on a dialysis treatment until his death.
On Thursday, his health condition worsened and he was transferred to a hospital in the neighboring city of Hue, where he died this Friday despite efforts to save his life.
The novel coronavirus entered the country on January 23 and since then only 509 cases have been reported.
This Friday was a fateful date for Vietnam regarding the coronavirus, as in addition to its first death, the country reached 45 new cases.
