Dominican expert forecasts a very active cyclonic season
Santo Domingo, Aug 7 (Prensa Latina) The director of the National Meteorological Office, Gloria Ceballos forecasted that the cyclonic season will be very active expecting about 24 meteorological phenomena.
'Typically, there are about 12 storms, but we are expecting about 24, doubling the usual figure. This indicates that it will be an extremely active season, as reported by Colorado State University, which we are following up on,' she added.
Likewise, Ceballos explained that this rise in the formation of atmospheric phenomena is due to the fact that the waters of the Atlantic are warmer and another condition is the tendency to La Niña phenomenon which causes more tropical cyclones in the Atlantic Ocean.
She argued that of the aforementioned storms, 12 are expected to be hurricanes, of which five could range into categories three, four, and five on the Saffir-Simpson scale.
Finally, she alerted the population to always be prepared during the cyclone season because one of these systems could affect the national territory.
