PLO seeks solidarity with Palestinian prisoners infected by Covid-19
28 de agosto de 2020, 11:3Ramallah, Aug 28 (Prensa Latina) PLO sought support from the international community to achieve the release of a group of Palestinian inmates infected with Covid-19 and they are still in Israeli prisons at risk of their lives.
The Palestine Liberation Organization's Executive Committee (PLO-EC) called for global support in order to achieve the immediate release of at least 12 prisoners with SARS-COV-2, although the committee aspires to release all prisoners captured in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, WAFA news agency reported.
Such a lawsuit comes when Israel faces a second and more severe wave of the pandemic, the news agency noted.
In addition to the PLO, activists, lawyers and other experts denounce the danger posing that those infected prisoners with coronavirus, children, elderly citizens and people with chronic diseases stay in Tel Aviv prisons, despite the scourges of Covid-19.
According to data released by human rights activists, some 4,700 Palestinians are held in prisons by the Zionist government, included children whose rights are violated.
