Comparing July with the same period of 2019, a fall of 4.89% was perceived, while in the first seven months of 2020 there was a 5.77% decrease.
After forced stoppage of commerce and industry due to isolation, more reinforced in March and April, Brazil showed signs of gradual recovery.
At the beginning of the year, when the Covid-19 pandemic was concentrated in China and it was not known when and how it would reach Brazil, some specialists noticed that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth was around 2.3%.
Brazil´s GDP recession has not occurred since 2016, the year of judicial parliamentary coup against then-president Dilma Rousseff, when local economy dropped 3.3%.

Brasilia, Sep 14 (Prensa Latina) Economic activity in Brazil rose a seasonally-adjusted 2.15% in July compared to June, the Central Bank indicator showed on Monday.
The central bank´s IBC-Br economic activity index was the third consecutive expansion amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
