Syrian authorities recover ancient pieces in Homs
Damascus, Oct 18 (Prensa Latina) Syrian authorities recovered archaelogical pieces hidden by terrorists in al-Ghantou town, in the central province of Homs, 160 kilometers north of Damascus.
According to a statement from the Department of Criminal Security in the region, the authorities indicated that these pieces hidden underground belong to the Bizantine, Islamic and Ottoman times, according to the technical examinations conducted.
The glass, metal, and pottery objects were analyzed by experts of the Directorate-General of Antiquities and Museums of Homs, the institution to which they were delivered after paperwork requirements were fulfilled.
Usually, extremists steal the pieces, and after being expelled from the area, they hid them in an attempt to later smuggle them into Turkey through different means and contacts with foreigners, according to systematic complaints from Syria.
