Havana improves Covid 19-related epidemiological situation
Havana, Oct 30 (Prensa Latina) Dr. Francisco Duran, national director of Epidemiology, highlighted on Friday the progress of the Cuban capital fighting Covid-19.
Havana had a complex epidemiological situation since the pandemic emerged here in March, but it currently shows another image, Duran stressed at a press briefing.
No related-Covid-19 events is open, the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus is less, and this denotes adequate control, if the demographic density and mobility of citizens are taken into account, Duran said.
The Cuban capital continue stepping up measures such as social distancing and wearing facemasks, an issue that has been improved in the last few weeks.
'We can keep Covid-19 in line,' said the expert, who assured that the country's authorities are working with rigor and intensity in Havana and in provinces of Pinar del Rio, Ciego de Avila and Sancti Spiritus.
On Thursday, laboratories made 8,245 PCR tests in real-time to detect the virus and 35 people tested positive. All new cases are Cubans.
Of those cases, 13 are women and 22 are men, and 31 of them were asymptomatic when the PCR test was made.
The new cases belong to Pinar del Rio (26), Sancti Spiritus (5), Havana (2), Artemisa (1) Camagüey (an imported case).
To date, Cuba accumulates 6,801 Covid-19 cases since March. About 788 children were reported with the virus and 717 of them have already recovered, the doctor said.
Of 493 active cases, 488 are clinically stable, three are in a critical health condition in intensive care units and two are seriously ill, Duran said.
Of 6,801 cases reported since March in Cuba, 6,178 have been recovered from the disease.
